Required of Public Relations majors. Exploration of the principles and practices of public relations through the study of contemporary local and national PR case studies, providing a review of the historical evolution of public relations; the principles and theories of that profession; the role research plays as a cornerstone of contemporary PR practice; the terminology, strategies, and approaches used by professionals; public relations' role in society; the relative effectiveness of various PR techniques and tactics; the ethical and legal dimensions of public relations practices; the issues and trends that shape and will continue to shape current and future public relations practices, including the impact of new technology; and public relations' potential as a career.
