Description:
Students with previous experience in jazz and improvisation who are selected for this instrumental ensemble will study various styles of music, including swing, Latin, rock, and ballads, through the medium of the "big band" (5 saxophones, 5 trumpets, 5 trombones, piano, bass drums, and guitar) using sight reading, improvisation, and performance. Students will actively participate in regular rehearsals and public performances. Audition required. Repeatable up to 8 credits subject to graduation restrictions. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Perform with proficiency. 2. Perform with artistic expression. 3. Demonstrate musical literacy through appropriate style and performance practices. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. Corequisite: MUSC 3310R. FA, SP
