Prerequisite(s): ESFF 1000 or department approval. Addresses the Hazardous Materials First Responder requirements of NFPA 470 and 29 CFR 1910.120. Includes definitions and classes of hazardous materials; physiological and toxicological considerations; DOT, UN and NFPA 704 labeling and placarding systems; container types and container identification. Features incident size-up using the DOT Emergency Response Guide, use of personal protective equipment and decontamination procedures. Prepares the participant to certify at both the Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations levels.. Course fee of $119 for materials, state services & testing applies.
