Prerequisite(s): REC 1535 and University Advanced Standing. Pre- or Corequisite(s): REC 2200. Teaches tools and skills needed for surviving in the wilderness. Includes orienteering, map reading, packing, backcountry cooking, campsite set-up, food rationing, river crossing, proper clothing, water purification, hygiene, weather forecasting, backcountry travel, Leave NO Trace ethics, and personal risk management.. Course fee of $30 for transportation, equipment, and support applies.
