Description:
Students learn the basic skills of multimedia environmental reporting, including where to find and how to use expert sources and scientific data. They gain a functional familiarity with relevant terminology, science, information sources, and regulations. Students improve their understanding of the Western ecosystem, domestic vs. endangered species, land use and control, water, and demographic pressures. Finally, students critically examine the role of the news media in the public's perception and understanding of environmental matters, both nationally and in the West. Prerequisites: WRTG 2010 OR a WR2 OR score of 4 or higher in (AP Lang/Comp OR AP Lit/Comp) OR complete an (Interstate Passport OR Associates Degree OR IB Diploma OR Bachelors Degree).
