Description:
For snowboarders looking to experience the backcountry via splitboard, this course focuses on the equipment, techniques, and knowledge needed for competent winter backcountry travel. Splitboards are an ideal option for snowboarders traveling in the backcountry and this course is an opportunity to learn the tricks and secrets behind safe, fun, and efficient travel. Through a classroom meeting and three field experiences, students will be introduced to the setup and use of spiltboards, logistics of backcountry touring, and avalanche safety as it relates to splitboarding. Leave No Trace skills appropriate for the winter and information regarding natural resource management will also be discussed. Not enrolled in a high school program.
