Description:
A basic lab course in riding and handling of horses. An understanding of horse behavior and safe conduct around horses are central to the course. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of riding, handling, and grooming, as well as becoming familiar with the parts of the horse, common tack, and grooming equipment. Limited enrollment. One 1 and 1/2 hour session required per week. May be repeated for credit. For safety of horse and rider, there is a rider weight limit of 250 pounds. (Rider may also be required to pass a physical ability test at the discretion of the instructor). Horse boarding available. (Fall, Spring) [Graded (Standard Letter)] Repeatable for Add'l Credit? Yes - Total Credits: 3 Registration Restriction(s): Intensive English Program majors may not enroll
