This hands-on course focuses on the study and evolution of letterforms from ancient civilizations. Students practice several calligraphic styles and use them to create finished art pieces to express their ideas, opinions and feelings. Esthetic composition and page layout will be stressed. Through reading, writing and discussions, the art of lettering and its impact on society will be explored. Semester: Fall & Spring
