This orientation course wil introduce students to the fundamentals of dance, patterns of total body connectivity and Bartenieff Fundamentals. Laban Movement Analysis will be introduced to teach methods of analyzing movement to facilitate greater understanding and recognition of personal patterns. Labanotation will explore the aspects of reading and writing movement through rhythm, gestures, scores, space measurement and body parts. This is an active, participatory class and is a requirement for all Dance Majors in their first semester.
