Prerequisite(s): MUSC 1400. Builds on the concepts covered in Music Technology I. Examines the uses of Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) and virtual instruments in the modern Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) including the creation of templates in ProTools, use of continuous controllers for realism, creation of stems, and the use of sample libraries and various virtual instruments. Studies in greater depth the processes of contemporary music notation including midi importation into notation software and creation of professional-looking scores and parts complete with all the necessary dynamics, phrasing, articulations, and performance instructions.. Software fee of $16 applies.. Lab access fee of $17 for computers applies.
