Fundamentals of turbulent fluid flow, with emphasis on providing student with sufficient physical and mathematical background to critically evaluate current literature and make original research contributions. Topics include stochastic tools, the governing equations, transition to turbulence, isotropic turbulence, measurement techniques, and free and wall bounded turbulent shear flows. Prerequisite/Restriction: MAE 6410 or permission of instructor.
