Winter Backpacking and Travel Techniques will help students to manage the unique systems and procedures needed to comfortably backpack in the snow. In this course we will utilize several methods of self-propelled travel including snow shoes and cross-country skis. The course will cover topics including the 10 essentials, appropriate clothing and layering systems, snow shelters, winter camping, nutrition and hydration, avalanche terrain, snow stability, and weather.
