Second semester course. Further develops health and illness concepts within the three domains of the client, healthcare, and nursing. Emphasis is placed on the concepts of elimination, metabolism, intracranial regulation, cellular regulation, perfusion, infection, immunity, mobility, comfort, behavior, health-wellness-illness, critical thinking, nursing process, caring, time management/organization, leadership/management, and safety. Includes application of pharmacological health and illness concepts in acute care settings. Includes classroom and clinical learning experiences. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Exhibit personal traits necessary to establish vision & goals; the ability to plan, organize, motivate, manage, execute, delegate, evaluate, use conflict resolution strategies, & collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. (Leadership) 2. Utilize a process of insightful thinking that utilizes multiple dimensions of one's own cognition & collaborates with the interdisciplinary health care team to develop conclusions, solutions, & alternatives to ensure safe nursing practice & quality care. (Critical Thinking). 3. Apply concepts of communication & therapeutic interaction in building & maintaining relationships with clients, families, groups, communities & other members of the health care team. (Communication) 5. Demonstrating adherence to standards of nursing practice, commitment to the profession of nursing, accountability for actions, behaviors & nursing practice within legal, ethical, & regulatory frameworks.
