This variable topics course features a single author or several authors. Students may study global anglophone writers and/or works in translation, by authors such as Derek Walcott, Arundhati Roy, Chinua Achebe, Gabriel García Márquez, Nadine Gordimer, Margaret Atwood, Mo Yan, Fyodor Doestoevsky, Naguib Mahfouz, and Umberto Eco in order to gain a greater understanding of the social, cultural, and aesthetic significance of their work.
