This cross-disciplinary course synthesizes the history, principles, form of government, and economic system of the United States. The innovative hybrid pedagogy used in this course relies on a combination open-sourced online lectures, case studies, historic narratives, short documentaries, interviews, public speakers, news clips, and OER reading materials. Students will hone their oral communication skills in lively face-to-face discussions, debates, and media exercises, as well as sharpen their real-world problem-solving skills through the live application of course concepts to practical scenarios. SUU 1776 will not count towards Political Science major credit. All Political Science majors are advised to take POLS 1100.
