Description:
As an introduction to the role of music in the lives of children, this course provides opportunities for music majors to develop their rapport with elementary students. The course will include selecting literature and designing effective instructional strategies aligned with the Utah K-6 music core curriculum as well as the national music standards. Students will be introduced to different philosophical and pedagogical approaches as well as develop and implement age-appropriate assessment strategies. Students will develop their understanding of music's role in an interdisciplinary curriculum. A field experience with elementary-age students is required. Prerequisite: Completion of MUSC 2150 - Class Piano III with a grade of "C" or passing the piano proficiency exam. Music Majors and Minors only
