Description:
Elementary harmony, primary and secondary triads with inversions, non harmonic tones, and modulation. Prerequisite: Complete Theory Placement exam with a score of 70% or higher or MUSC 1100 with a grade of "C" or higher. A student scoring a 3 on the AP Music Theory Exam may enroll in Music Theory I without taking the placement exam. A student scoring a 4 on the AP Music Theory Exam may enroll in Music Theory II (MUSC 1120) without taking the placement exam. A student scoring a 5 on the AP Music Theory Exam may enroll in Music Theory III (MUSC 2110). The student, however, must enroll in these courses within a year of completing the AP Music Theory Exam. After one year, the student will be required to take the Music Theory Placement Exam and their former AP score is no longer recognized. Must be taken concurrently with MUSC 1130. Music Majors and Minors only"
