Description:
The course is designed to introduce the student to additional information about the active role of the practical nurse in health care delivery. Emphasis is on the application of the nursing process to enable health promotion and prevention. This course will reinforce knowledge obtained during the first semester of the nursing program. Patient care concepts, mental health concepts, and emergency care of the medical-surgical patient across the lifespan are reviewed. The courses's purpose is to assist the student in understanding the care concepts and mental illnesses that affect their patients and their families. Students must pass fall semester LPN courses with a 74% (C) or above to enroll. This course is part of a required series to prepare students to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX_PN).
