This course focuses on atmospheric-pressure, industrial combustion. Topics include safety, environmental impact, energy efficiency, fuels, combustion chemistry, fluid flow, and heat transfer. Advanced topics include computational fluid dynamics, atomization of liquid fuels, noise, and testing. Applications include flare gas recovery, biogas flaring, process flares, process heaters and burners, boiler burners, thermal oxidizers, metallurgy, and equipment fabrication. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (CH EN 3353 AND CH EN 3453) AND Full Major status in Chemical Engineering.
