Description:
This course covers oil and gas separation, processing, transportation, and refining. An introduction to petroleum characterization is provided, along with methods of petroleum classification. Technologies for oil and gas separation are reviewed, along with required processing for transport by pipeline, rail, truck, and ship. Pipeline design for transport of oils, natural gas, and refined products will be discussed. Introductory reviews of petroleum refining processes will be covered, including: distillation, catalytic and thermal cracking, hydroprocessing, alkylation, reforming, and isomerization. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (CH EN 3353 AND CH EN 3453 AND CH EN 3853) AND Full Major status in CH EN.
