This course examines the history of medieval England from the twelfth through the fifteenth centuries, from Magna Carta to the death of Richard III at Bosworth Field in 1485. Along the way we will examine major themes in later English history including commerce, religious and dynastic wars at home and abroad, domestic life, religious life, urban communities, medieval universities, and the countryside. We will also visit manuscript resources for medieval history in the UMFA and the Marriott Library.
