Description:
In this course, students will continue to develop techniques of jazz dance introduced in BALLE 2380 and DANC 1210. Emphasis is placed upon cultural and historical understanding, styling, rhythm, alignment, and phrasing. The course material draws from the origins of American jazz dance vernacular jazz forms, influences from the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora, and Broadway, as well as urban, funk, and contemporary influences. Prerequisites: 'C+' or better in (DANC 1210 OR BALLE 2380) AND Full Major status in the School of Dance) OR Instructor Consent
