This course helps development health and illness concepts within the three domains of the client, healthcare, and nursing. Emphasis is placed on the concepts of metabolism, intracranial regulation, cellular regulation, perfusion, infection, immunity, mobility, comfort, behavior, health-wellness-illness, critical thinking, nursing process, caring, time management/organization, leadership/management, and safety. The course includes application of pharmacological health and illness concepts in acute care settings. It includes clinical learning experiences. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Utilize assessment and diagnostic data to develop a plan of care in the provision of safe nursing care. 2. Utilize insightful thinking to incorporate evidence based practice in the provision of safe nursing care. 3. Demonstrate the ability to interact and maintain relationships with clients and the inter-professional team. 4. Demonstrate culturally sensitive nursing care along with the protection and promotion of human dignity and diversity. 5. Employ the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice, which will be demonstrated through the use of leadership, skills, and clinical judgment. Course fee required. Prerequisite: Admission to either the Paramedic-RN (AAS) program or the LPN-RN (AAS) program at Utah Tech University. FA
