Instruction in theory analysis of electronic, popular, commercial, and film music, linking each theory practice with the art or artists throughout popular music history. Using concepts derived from the analysis, students will compose original works in the style or genre under review in each module. The focus will be on analysis and composition within the context of Popular Music History. Specific artists, groups, festivals, and technologies will be studied along with their impact on their time as well as current trends.
