Introduces the student to philosophically relevant work done in Latin America, and to philosophical topics that have occupied Latin American thinkers. Includes texts from the time of the Conquest and the Colonial Period (Las Casas, Sepúlveda, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz), all the way to 19th century independentism and positivism (Bolívar, Sarmiento), as well as 20th century philosophically-oriented writers (Paz, Borges), and recent work concerning Latin-American identity.
