HONOR 2001 - Charting a Path

Institution:
University of Utah
Subject:
Honors College
Description:
This course is part of a series of Honors courses aimed at preparing students to build good lives for themselves and their communities. In these courses, we address nuts-and-bolts practical issues and exercises that position students for successful degree completion. Beyond the degree, however, we also will engage beyond the academic part of your life, and consider humanistic perspectives, established science, and varied practices around the building of a good life for yourself. And because no person has a good life apart from their relationships to their communities, we also consider scholarship and practices around community creation, beginning with ideas about generous reading and deep listening, identities, and our responsibilities to one another. The course is a 1-credit course offered in a format that combines online work and in-person meetings in small groups, directed by peer mentors.
