Description:
The course is about health and safety management in the U.S. Mining Industry. Students will gain a deeper background in defining and classifying hazards in a mining environment, and the role engineers play in controlling hazards. Students will then examine various approaches to managing health and safety. Behavior centered safety and the role of human factors will be investigated. Risk management concepts will be presented, followed by safety leadership. Students will complete a class project on performing a root cause analysis of a mining incident. Prerequisites: MG EN 5350.
