Through the study of various forms of authentic Spanish-language materials, students will think critically about the political, social, cultural, and historical circumstances that affect individual, community, and global health in Spanish-speaking communities. Students will focus on cultural competency, as well as proficiency, with a focus on vocabulary and terminology related to various health professions. Topics to be covered include the health insurance industry, the pharmaceutical industry, pandemics, mental health, women's health, healthcare and ethics, healthcare and minority communities, and more.
