This course sets the foundational stage for leadership in nursing. Students focus on theoretical and practical aspects of leadership in healthcare, and they discuss professional standards of practice for nursing leadership. Learners in this course explore various theories of leadership and how a nurse leader would respond in healthcare settings according to each leadership paradigm. Students will consider emotional intelligence and how it affects the ability to perform as an effective leader, as well as evaluate their own leadership style.
