This course introduces practical aspects of fostering literacy development in children. It focuses on emerging and early literacy in home, care, and educational settings. Particular emphasis is given to the role of children's literature, including discussion of access, genres, and current issues. The relationship between early language development and literacy opportunities is explored, with attention to methods for developing language and positive attitudes toward books.
