Description:
This hands-on course will introduce students to the fundamental tools for the analysis and visualization of data from a range of biological sub-fields. Topics will include, but are not limited to, the management of data, exploration and description of data distributions, basic linear regression and hypothesis testing, and exposure to a range of data and visualization types. Example data sets will draw from ecology, genomics, physiology, and other sub-fields in biology to expose students to a wide range of visualization and analysis techniques. At the end of this course, students will know how to explore and analyze a new dataset to make defensible conclusions from data using modern open scripting tools, such as R or Python. No prior computer programming experience is required.
