Course description & Learning outcomesThe purpose of this course is to overview the etiology, classification, evaluation, imaging, and treatment for pain management.Course ObjectivesStudents will gain and understanding and develop skills necessary to:1.Discuss the taxonomy of chronic and acute pain.2. Identify challenges in the training, education, and certification of pain medicine3. Determine psychosocial aspects of pain and consider appropriate assessments4. Identify clinical conditions related to pain and pharmacologic treatments.5. Discuss nerve block techniques and interventional techniques.6. Characterize best practice in image modalities for procedures targeted for pain management.7. Consider research, ethics, and reimbursement in regards to pain management.
