Fulfills General Education Fine Arts requirement. Students will gain a broader knowledge of musical elements and how they are characteristically used through examining the musical styles of Taylor Swift. The relationship with musical canon will be probed. Close listening to music, participation in lectures and group discussions, and reflective writing are methods used to achieve the course goals. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify the elements of music. 2. Critically evaluate musical compositions and performance. 3. Identify relationships and commonalities across musical genres. 4. Recognize forms, instruments, rhythms and other stylistic elements of music styles, employing significant terms from the reading and classroom lectures. FA, SP
