    This course offers students an opportunity to receive academic credit for the successful completion of an organizational leadership-related internship. Internship experiences should aim to integrate the knowledge and theory learned in the major with practical, hands-on experience in a supervised professional setting. Prior to enrolling in this course, students need to successfully complete ORGL 4960 and coordinate their internship placement. All internship sites and proposals must be pre-approved by the ORGL faculty and the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. To have an internship fulfill the ORGL capstone requirements, students must earn a total of three (3) credit hours and complete the required coursework.     This course serves as the first step in the capstone experience for Organizational Leadership students. The capstone courses allow students to apply, synthesize, and articulate the knowledge and skills learned in the program. Students will also be able to reflect on their own individual objectives as it relates to the organizational leadership coursework, interdisciplinary educational experience, career interests, and professional development.     In this course, students will complete the capstone project originally developed and approved in ORGL 4960. The capstone project needs to address a real-world leadership challenge within an organization and present potential solutions. Students should select a project topic that aligns with their interests and also allows them to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the theories, methodologies, leadership styles, and/or case studies presented in the ORGL curriculum. Through this process, students will analyze, synthesize, and critically apply the knowledge and skills gained in the program, while also thoughtfully engaging with the content to explore innovative solutions. Upon successful completion of ORGL 4965, students should enroll in ORGL 4970 in order to complete the Organizational Leadership capstone requirements.     This course concludes the capstone course requirements for Organizational Leadership and guides students through the creation of a final reflection and ePortfolio that highlight their educational experience and competencies, leadership development, personal growth, communication skills, and professional interests. In order to complete a well-rounded ePortfolio, students will need to compile and revise materials submitted in previous courses, reflect on the knowledge and skills gained in the program, and explore their professional identity and ongoing goals as they transition into the workforce, graduate studies, or other endeavors post-graduation.     Winter Backpacking and Travel Techniques will help students to manage the unique systems and procedures needed to comfortably backpack in the snow. In this course we will utilize several methods of self-propelled travel including snow shoes and cross-country skis. The course will cover topics including the 10 essentials, appropriate clothing and layering systems, snow shelters, winter camping, nutrition and hydration, avalanche terrain, snow stability, and weather.
