Explores how, when, and why humans first populated the Americas. Through emphasis on critical thinking and hypothesis testing, students scientifically evaluate evidence for initial colonization drawn from the fields of archaeology, biological anthropology, genetics, and linguistics. This course is the archaeology track capstone for anthropology majors pursuing an archaeology track. Prerequisite/Restriction: ANTH 1030 or ANTH 2330, plus one upper-division archaeology course Cross-listed as: ANTH 6380
