    This course will introduce and explain concepts behind Computer-Automated Manufacturing (CAM). It will define elements, terms, and concepts involved with CAM. Elements of rapid prototyping will also be covered from conceptual design in solids to production of tooling and parts. This course is designed for those who have the basic understanding of the setup and operation of CNC machine tools and programming. Software will be used to perform the CAM operations, such as part generation and post processing. Prerequisite:    DET 1010 and DET 1160 and MSE 1210 and MSE 3460

    Six Sigma methods use statistical tools to bring about continual improvement of quality in manufactured goods and services and to document that positive change has occurred. These tools include Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (gage R&R), Control Charts, Process Capability Analysis, and Design of Experiments. Students will learn and apply these methods and tools through class participation and completion of required projects. Course will utilize Minitab and Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software.
