    This course builds upon the students' detailed musculoskeletal knowledge base learned in the previous semester's Anatomy for Dance course. The focus this semester is for students to embody the previous semester's material, further developing, analyzing, and fine-tuning individualized conditioning programs through regular practice, observation, and reflection. Students will establish a regular embodied practice and additionally, gain skills teaching/coaching others in their practice.     This course comprises the first semester of a two-semester sequence, designed to examine human movement as a vital identifier of culture throughout history (focus on pre-20th Century). The course lays the groundwork to critically examine dance and movement histories. Varied forms are examined in a non-hierarchical and intersectional way to study how dance and ritual are used for political resistance, storytelling, investigation, and shaping and maintaining cultural identity in the past and present. Prerequisites: Complete a class that fulfills a WR2 OR AP Language/Comp score of 4 or higher OR AP Comp/Lit score of 4 or higher OR complete an (Interstate Passport OR Associates Degree OR Bachelors Degree).

    Building upon the students' background in creative dance teaching, this course is designed to help students gain knowledge and experience developing effective and individualized creative dance instruction for students with varying disabilities. Students will learn about various disabilities and considerations for accessibility and inclusion, and better understand individualized adaptations and supports during a creative dance lesson. Students will join select schools in the community to observe and learn from other creative dance instructors, reflect upon those observations, and develop and teach creative dance lessons of one's own design with mentorship.

    This course comprises the second semester of a two-semester sequence, designed to examine human movement as a vital identifier of culture throughout history (focus on 20th and 21st Century). The course continues the work of critically examining dance and movement histories. Varied forms are examined in a non-hierarchical and intersectional way to consider how the development of dance, ritual, and performance in recent history reflects and challenges socio-political currents. Prerequisites: "C-" or better in DANC 4571 OR Department Consent.

    This course provides internship practicum experience for each senior BFA major in the Department of Modern Dance in arts non-profit organizations on the University of Utah campus and in the Salt Lake community. These internships provide hands on experience that utilize numerous administrative skills that students have developed during their four years in the Department. Prerequisites: "C-" or better in DANC 4711 OR Department Consent.

    This communication module will introduce students to the basics of rapid, hand visualization. Students will learn to sketch and diagram in order to develop and communicate ideas visually through analog means. This course is a prerequisite for DES 1631.
