    This studio course, required of all BFA majors in Graphic Design, introduces students to the research phase of an intensive BFA final project to be completed during DESGR 4700 Capstone 2. In DESGR 4600 Capstone 1, students will engage in research on a specific topic of interest and explore a variety of processes and methods of execution. They will also determine a production schedule for the project. Prerequisites: "C-" or better in (DESGR 3500 AND DESGR 3800).

    Exploration of theory, methods, processes and fundamental technical skills integral to the creation of motion graphics for visual communications. Students will create a series of projects that explore time-based graphics through the exploration of story boarding and the use of pertinent digital tools and media platforms. Students should complete the Graphic Design Second-year Review prior to this course. Prerequisites: 'C+' or better in (DESGR 2300 AND DESGR 2600 AND DESGR 2700) AND completion of Graphic Design Second-year Review.

    Exploration of research methods, processes and fundamental technical skills integral to the understanding the visualization of quantitative data in a variety diagrammatic graphic environments. Students will research and create information graphics that range from simple to complex, through a wide range of media platforms that are pertinent to current modes of communication. Prerequisites: 'C+' or better in (DESGR 2300 AND DESGR 2600 AND DESGR 2700) AND completion of Graphic Design Second-year Review.

Students will gain an understanding of the components essential to editorial design; such as art direction, editing, gird systems, typography, image development and narrative structures.
