This course examines the processes and outcomes of community and environmental change. The class will analyze the sociopolitical context in which change operates, the impact of environmental and social changes, major models and methods of practice, and tools to promote public participation. This course provides a theoretical foundation and hands-on experience developing and evaluating community interventions. Special emphasis will be placed on collaborative and participatory planning.

FCS 5900: EC In-service Educators

An intensive supervised experience that is the required capstone to the Early Childhood Education Emphasis and open to students who are in-service educators at approved lab school sites. Students plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum in approved early childhood settings under the guidance of the Director of the Child and Family Development Center (CFDC) and designated mentoring teachers. Prerequisites: C- or better in FCS 2610, 2620, 2640, AND 5170.
