    Ballet majors engaged in professional training as a member or apprentice with a professional company may register for this course to receive credit for the experience they gain in traditional male ballet technique and variations during the professional training period. Professional training credits must be approved by the School of Dance prior to registration and supervised by a member of the faculty. Prerequisites: Department Consent.

    Practical application of the process of choreography as it moves from studio to stage. In addition to demonstrating acquired choreographic knowledge, students gain experience in staging, group management, and the implementation of technical aspects of theatrical performance such as lighting design and costuming. Final projects will result in a formal performance. Prerequisites: "C-" or better in BALLE 4710 OR Department Consent.

    Course will consist of in-depth research into the choreographic style, structure, content, music, history, time period, national origin, and the social and political influences affecting selected works of choreographers from the 19th, 20th, and 21st century. This will be achieved through discussion, individual student presentations (2), viewing of videotapes, and creative research projects, culminating in completed choreographic works. Prerequisites: "C-" or better in BALLE 4710 OR Department Consent.

    This course covers techniques for teaching creative movement and for introducing classical ballet to children age 3-9. Students learn how to analyze technique progression, utilize the vocabulary of age-appropriate ballet movements, and develop teaching goals and objectives. The course is taught in a lecture and lab format. Prerequisites: "C-" or better in BALLE 2500 OR Department Consent.

    This course is a continuation of BALLE 4780 and offers a more in-depth examination of the art of teaching classical ballet. It specifically includes material for ages 10-17. The student will: acquire techniques for teaching age-appropriate ballet movement vocabulary; learn how to incorporate class progression in the studio; develop a teaching curriculum, accompanying syllabi, and lesson plans for sequential levels of ballet technique. Prerequisites: "C-" or better in BALLE 4780 OR Department Consent.
