Lab instruction and practice are an integral part of this program. This course provides in-depth practical experience with shampooing, scalp treatments, manicuring, pedicuring, nail enhancements, haircutting, hairstyling, permanent waving, facials, massaging, esthetic procedures, hair extension applications, care and styling of wigs, hair coloring, chemical relaxing,hair lightening, retail sales, appointment booking, and phone skills. Utah state Board of Cosmetology/Barbering mandates 2000 clocked hours. Students perform services in a salon setting. The course has a service learning component.
