Emphasizes inclusive, anti-bias classroom strategies for supporting learning and development of diverse students. Encourages examination of personal beliefs and attitudes about diversity. Introduces teachers to the teaching of English as a second language not only for linguistic development, but for cognitive, academic and social development. Covers both theoretical and applied aspects of second language learning and teaching and provides techniques, activities, strategies and resources to plan instruction for English language learners (ELLs).
