Keep in mind, the process for transferring from of one college or university to another varies at each institution. Each college or university you transfer to makes the final determination about how many and which credits transfer. Credits that transferred to a previous institution may or may not transfer or count toward a degree at another institution. The only way to know for sure is to ask your advisor. Make sure you are working with both an advisor at your current college or university and an advisor at the college or university you are planning to transfer to.

Earn College Credit in High School
Take your credits with you! If you earned college credit in high school, it’s important that you know how that credit is accepted by the colleges you are considering to attend.
Do you have Concurrent Enrollment credit?
Concurrent Enrollment classes allow students to take college courses while enrolled in high school. Earning college credit while in high school is a great way for you to get a jump start on a college degree! Contact your high school counselor to find out what opportunities are available in your school.
Have you taken Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses?
Colleges often award college credit to students who earn acceptable scores on standardized subject exams such as AP and IB. Use the Search for Exam Equivalencies and talk to your advisor about transferring credit from AP or IB courses.
