To acquire functional knowledge base for the clinical diagnosis and understanding of soft and hard tissue lesions, syndromes, diseases and disorders affecting the oral cavity, head and neck. Covers diseases that affect the oral cavity primarily or as a secondary affect. Disease processes, clinical signs and symptoms and treatment of inflammatory, immunologic, neoplastic, infectious, developmental and genetic diseases will be studied. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify by illustration, diagram or description normal, variations of normal and common pathologic oral lesions. 2. Differentiate between the pathologic processes associated with the head, neck and oral cavity, including systemic diseases, neoplasia and genetic disorders, and how they are manifest in the head, neck and oral cavity.
