    This clinical and simulation capstone course focuses on transition to the professional nursing role. Emphasis is placed on the application and integration of concepts associated with professional practice as students work collaboratively with nurse preceptors and other members of the inter-professional team in selected clinical sites. Upon completion of this course students will be able to synthesize all previously learned knowledge in the delivery of safe and effective nursing care. Prerequisites: Full Major status in Nursing.

    The third of four professional roles courses emphasizes the nurse's role in assisting patients during care transitions, with a focus on principles of safety, quality, and care coordination across multiple settings. Intraprofessional and interprofessional collaborations, information management, and transitional care models are explored. Experiences include case management and care coordination across the lifespan via seminars, simulation, projects and/or care transition settings. Prerequisites: Full Major status in Nursing.

    Concepts in Critical Care Nursing focuses on concepts associated with human response to severe illness and injury in the critical care environment. Emphasis is placed upon evidence-based nursing care for critically ill adult clients including pathophysiology, pharmacology, assessment, and problem-solving. Upon completion, the student will be able to identify and describe evidence-based nursing care that contributes to high quality client outcomes. Prerequisites: Full Major status in Nursing

    Students learn application of public health principles to problems and challenges transcending national boundaries, and to gain an understanding of the complex array of global and local forces affecting the health of diverse international populations. Utilizing knowledge from nursing, global health, and social science, standards of international public health nursing are applied to globally diverse populations. Clinical experiences incorporate best practices for population-based assessment, disease prevention and management, risk reduction and health promotion in a variety of multicultural, community-based settings. Prerequisites: Full Major status in Nursing.

The nursing role in population management includes health promotion, wellness, chronic disease management, and care transitions applied to mental and physical health.
